We’re so grateful you’ve joined us today for this heartfelt conversation. I’m here with Betsy Lamaire, a remarkable woman whose life story is a testament to faith, resilience, and obedience to God's calling. Thank you, Betsy, for sharing your journey with us.
A Glimpse into Betsy’s Background
Betsy calls Wickenburg, Arizona, home but was raised in Glendale, a place rich with rodeo history and family roots in the cowboy lifestyle. Her parents rodeoed, trained horses, and built a life immersed in the sport they loved. Despite a childhood that wasn’t traditional in a church setting—more cowboy churches than conventional congregations—Betsy felt the presence of God’s favor and protection from an early age. She’s a second-generation WPRA Gold Card Member, following her mother Bonnie Lemaire’s footsteps, an NFR qualifier herself. Betsy’s own rodeo career is illustrious—twice ranking in the WPRA Top 20 across different decades, Rookie of the Year, multiple qualifications at the NIRA College Finals, and regional titles in barrels, goats, and breakaway roping.
Faith and Personal Growth
Betsy’s story is one of overcoming hardship. Her early life was centered on rodeo, but her journey took a turn through difficult marriage and personal struggles. It was during these times that she turned to the Lord, reading her Bible and praying for strength. Her faith became a guiding light, leading her to deep reflections on her purpose and calling. She emphasizes the importance of getting into the Word, surrounding yourself with spirit-filled communities, and seeking God’s guidance in every aspect of life.
Lessons in Marriage and Listening to God
Betsy’s experience in marriage taught her the value of aligning with God’s plan. She encourages young people to seek partners who are rooted in faith, to pray for wisdom, and to be patient in waiting for God’s best. She advises that true confidence comes from knowing who you are in Christ and living authentically according to His Word—not trying to impress others or fit into worldly standards.
The Power of Words and Faith in Action
Throughout our conversation, Betsy shared inspiring stories illustrating how speaking life and truth over others can lead to miraculous change. Whether it’s encouraging a friend, speaking life into a situation, or trusting God’s timing, she reminds us that our words are powerful. Her story of praying for a friend who then miraculously got her period after years of infertility exemplifies how God works through faith-filled words and obedience.
Living Out Your Talents and Trusting God’s Plan
Betsy’s life is a testament to stepping into God’s purpose for her. She’s used her talents—rodeo, singing, writing, coaching—to glorify Him. She encourages everyone to identify their gifts, step out in obedience, and invite God into every platform He opens. Whether it’s leading worship, writing, or competing, she believes that when we allow God to work through us, doors will open beyond our imagination.
Final Thoughts
As we close, Betsy reminds us of the importance of consistency in our walk with God. Just like training a horse or running a pattern in rodeo, our spiritual walk requires daily discipline—reading the Word, praying, listening to the Holy Spirit. Confidence isn’t built by being someone we’re not but by living truthfully and faithfully in Christ.
Thank you, Betsy, for sharing your story and encouraging us to trust in God’s plan. And thank you to everyone listening—remember, your journey is uniquely designed by God for His glory. Walk confidently in faith, and watch how He transforms your life day by day.
