A Testimony of Faith, Perseverance, and Heaven: An Inspiring Conversation with Gary Coats

In a world filled with uncertainties and challenges, stories of divine intervention and unwavering faith serve as beacons of hope. Recently, I had the privilege of sitting down with Gary Coats—a man whose life has been profoundly touched and transformed by miraculous experiences with God. His story is not just a testimony; it’s a powerful reminder that faith can move mountains and that heaven is a real place waiting for us.

Getting to Know Gary Coats

Originally from Nebraska, Gary has spent most of his life working with horses. He moved to Texas over three decades ago, driven by a simple desire: to escape the cold and work in a place where he could care for horses. His journey from the racetrack to Texas has been marked by dedication, skill, and a deep connection to his family and faith.

Gary’s work as a horseshoer became more than a job—it became a legacy. He trained his sons-in-law, built a thriving business, and continued to pursue his passion for roping and rodeo. But life threw him a series of trials that would test his faith and resilience. Gary Coats faced multiple serious medical issues over the years. First as a Cancer survivor of rectal and liver cancer. Then In 2022, he battled a knee infection that persisted for over three years, ultimately leading to the amputation of his first leg after doctors in Denver estimated only a 10% chance of saving it. The following year, in 2023, he was involved in a tractor accident where he fell off onto a trailer, and the loader ran over his leg, resulting in the loss of his second leg.

Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

Gary shares his experience in Heaven.

Gary's family found him passed out in the house and rushed him to the hospital. During the days he was hospitalized,  he experienced something extraordinary: he died and went to heaven.  Gary describes this time; Up there, amidst breathtaking beauty and vibrant life, Gary saw God. He describes the experience as the most unbelievable moment of his life—a glimpse of paradise filled with flowers, bright colors, and the presence of the Lord. God, appearing as a moon-like figure with two eyes, he felt a pressing on his chest and God told him, “I’m not ready for you yet,” prompting Gary to return to Earth to share his story. He vividly recalls the sensation of being in heaven—feeling no fear, only peace, and a sense of the divine presence. Children were present in heaven, all the people were young and vibrant, a testament to the promise of eternal life.

Faith Reinforced and Life Transformed

This encounter changed Gary forever. While he had been a Christian from childhood—baptized at age twelve—his experience deepened his relationship with Jesus. He became more committed, reading the Bible more and sharing his testimony with others.

Despite the physical and emotional pain, Gary’s determination and faith kept him going. He credits his perseverance to his trust in God and his unwavering belief that life has a purpose. His story of survival and faith is inspiring: he’s beaten cancer multiple times and continues to live passionately, roping and sharing God's love.

Isaiah 40:31: "But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
