Recently, I had the privilege of sitting down with Ethan McGhee—a young man whose life story is a testament to God's guiding hand. From his roots in Utah to his journey through rodeo and faith, Ethan’s story is a powerful reminder of how God places the right people in our lives at just the right time.
A Journey of Faith and Roping
Ethan’s story begins in Utah, where he was raised Mormon. His early beliefs centered around doing specific deeds to earn a place in heaven—following steps, reaching levels, and always striving. But as he grew older, questions surfaced that challenged those beliefs. Seminary classes and unanswered questions led Ethan to seek the truth for himself. His journey took a pivotal turn when he moved to Texas at seventeen to work with Allen Bach and his family. It was here that he was introduced to Cowboy Forever Ministries and rodeo Bible camps, which deepened his faith and understanding of God's love. Ethan credits his faith growth to the influence of godly men like Heavy, whose example and love opened Ethan’s eyes to a different perspective on spirituality.
Proverbs 13:20: "Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm" Proverbs 27:17: "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another"

God’s Hand on His Life
Ethan’s faith is woven into his daily life—whether roping, serving others, or simply walking in obedience. He shares how God has placed the right people in his path, from coaches to mentors, and how prayer has played a vital role in his journey. Whether praying for the perfect horse or seeking peace amidst challenges, Ethan believes God’s hand is always present. He emphasizes the importance of relationship over religion. Going to church or participating in faith activities is meaningful, but true growth comes from walking daily with Jesus, cultivating a personal relationship rooted in love and trust.
Proverbs 13:20 Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.

Living Out Faith
In his faith walk, Ethan strives to be a vessel of God's love—encouraging others, sharing scripture, and listening to the Holy Spirit’s guidance. He recognizes that sometimes, stepping out in obedience can be daunting, but he’s learning to trust God's timing and provision. His testimony also highlights the importance of forgiving ourselves and others, letting go of past mistakes, and living in the freedom that Christ offers. Ethan reminds us that God’s love is unconditional, and our purpose is to serve and love those around us.
John 15:12 “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

Inspiration for All of Us
Ethan’s story is a vivid illustration of how faith is a daily journey—unfolding step by step, often through challenges and questions. His desire to pursue rodeo while remaining rooted in Christ shows that God’s calling often aligns with our passions when we surrender to Him. He encourages us all to be willing vessels—listening to the Holy Spirit, stepping out in faith, and sharing God's love with others. Whether it’s a kind word, a prayer, or simply being present, each act of obedience can make a difference.

Closing Thoughts
Ethan’s life reminds us that God’s grace is sufficient, and His plans for us are always for good. As we walk our faith journey, may we trust in His timing, remember His unconditional love, and be willing to be used as His vessels of hope and encouragement.
