Welcome, everyone, to another inspiring edition of Faith Conversations! Today, we’re thrilled to share an uplifting dialogue with Ashley Hewitt, a woman whose journey of faith, boldness, and obedience is truly inspiring. If you’re familiar with Ashley’s story, you know she’s been on an incredible ride of transformation, and if you’re new here, get ready to be encouraged by her faith-filled steps into the unknown.
Ashley was actually my very first guest on Faith Conversations. We tried to record that initial chat, but technical difficulties with video meant we just went with the flow—holding a phone and sharing from the heart. That moment marked the beginning of what has become a beautiful journey of sharing stories of God’s movement in everyday lives. Fast forward to today, and Ashley’s presence at our 100th episode is a testament to her faithfulness and willingness to step out boldly in Christ. Her story is a powerful reminder that obedience to God often leads us into new, sometimes uncertain, but profoundly impactful places.
Ashley Hewitt hails from Kerkhoven, Minnesota—a place close to her heart. She’s passionate about barrel racing, a sport she loves and has intertwined with her faith. With a background in food science and meat science—earning her degrees from Saint Cloud, River Falls, and Iowa State—Ashley’s expertise extends into the science of muscle biology and animal health. Yet, her true calling grew beyond her academic achievements. Ashley’s journey with Jesus began with a gentle familiarity, but it wasn’t until her late twenties—after marriage and a move to Kerkhoven—that she fully surrendered her life to Christ. She shares that she was living a good life, but it wasn’t until she attended a retreat called Cursillo that she experienced a life-changing encounter with God, leading her into deeper surrender.
Ashley candidly talks about the challenge of daily surrender. Even after committing her life to Jesus, she admits that she still struggles with self-reliance and control—trying to handle things on her own instead of trusting God fully. But she highlights a vital truth: surrender is ongoing. Sometimes, we pick up worries and fears, but we need to continually cast those burdens onto Him. Her reflections include powerful insights about the Spirit of God within her, reinforcing that our confidence isn't in ourselves but in Christ living inside us. Ashley vividly describes how meditating on scriptures like John 14:12 and the "in Him" truths have strengthened her faith and courage.
Ashley’s story is a remarkable testament to how God can transform our passions into avenues of ministry. Her love for horses and her desire to see them healed led her down a path of learning about holistic animal care. She shares how, after her horse was injured, she felt compelled to learn more about body work and natural healing methods—something she never imagined would become her calling. Obedient to God’s nudges, Ashley pursued further education, took classes, and eventually founded Deeply Rooted Equine. Her work focuses on restoring horses’ health through body work, nerve and vascular restrictions, and organ health—bringing healing not only to animals but also joy to their owners.
One of the most encouraging parts of Ashley’s story is her decision to leave her successful career in food science and step into full-time horse healing. It was a leap of faith, filled with fear and uncertainty, but Ashley trusted God’s voice. She remembers a powerful Sunday sermon from Isaiah 41:10 that reminded her of God’s presence and strength in times of fear. Her willingness to obey—even when it was uncomfortable—has opened doors she never expected. She emphasizes that obedience isn’t just about personal blessing; it’s about being part of God’s bigger plan, touching lives, and expanding His kingdom.
Ashley’s journey encourages us all to listen for God’s voice, step out in faith, and trust that He will provide and guide. She reminds us that stories of faith—like those in the Bible—often involve fear, uncertainty, and doubt, but obedience leads to divine blessings and impact far beyond what we can imagine. Her message is clear: You don’t have to be perfect or fully qualified to step into what God has called you to do. All you need is obedience and willingness. Whether it’s starting a ministry, reaching out to someone in need, or pursuing a new passion, God can use your talents for His glory.
Final Thoughts Ashley Hewitt’s story is a shining example of faith in action. Her willingness to listen, obey, and step into the unknown has not only transformed her life but is also impacting many others. Her journey reminds us that when we surrender completely to God, He will do incredible things through us—often in ways we never expected. If you’re feeling called to take a step of faith, remember Ashley’s words: trust in God’s presence, lean into His strength, and be bold. The blessings of obedience are worth every leap of faith. TStay encouraged, stay obedient, and keep walking boldly in Christ!
