In a heartfelt and inspiring conversation, Rope Meyers shares his remarkable journey of faith, rodeo, and how God's hand has guided him through life's highs and lows. As the director of Equine Ministries at Sky Ranch, Rope’s story is a testament to God's patience, faithfulness, and the transformative power of trusting in Him.
From Rodeo Arena to Ministry:
Rope’s Early Years
Rope Meyers' story begins in the rodeo world, where he spent many years competing professionally. Despite his success and dedication, Rope's early life was marked by a search for purpose and fulfillment. His first encounter with Jesus came at a young age, through a church service he happened to attend while goats were being tied up for a rodeo in Missouri. Sitting in the grandstands, Rope listened to the gospel invitation and, at just twelve years old, responded by accepting Christ. That moment planted a seed that would grow deeper over the years.
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” — Proverbs 22:6

Throughout his youth, Rope experienced moments of wonder in God's creation—like witnessing thunderstorms over Kansas—that revealed to him God's grandeur. Psalm 19:1“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.”
God's Faithfulness in the Midst of the Journey
Rope's journey took a turn when he met his wife, Candice. Her faith and encouragement drew him closer to God, especially as he faced the pressures of rodeo life and personal ambitions. He describes how God used various moments—such as nearly winning a world championship or feeling unfulfilled despite success—to gently remind him that true fulfillment comes from a relationship with Him.
Proverbs 16:9 (ESV): "The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps".
One vivid example is Rope's experience at the National Finals Rodeo, where he was on the brink of winning the world title. Despite the near victory, Rope realized that victory and achievement didn't satisfy the deep longing in his heart. It was during these moments that God was refining his understanding of what truly matters—intimacy with Him.
Romans 15:13May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

The Power of Obedience and Trust
Throughout his career, Rope faced setbacks, injuries, and moments of discouragement. Yet, he consistently sensed God's guiding hand urging him to stay the course, finish well, and trust His plans. An example of this is the story of a horse he wanted to ride at the finals—a horse suggested by God through quiet prompting. Rope listened, asked permission, and ended up winning multiple rounds, ultimately securing the world championship in 2002.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” — Proverbs 3:5-6
“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:19
Ministry and Equine Outreach: Living Out Faith
Transitioning from rodeo, Rope and Candice responded to God's call by serving at Sky Ranch, a Christian camp for kids. Rope now leads the equine program, using horses as a bridge to connect with children and share the love of Christ. Many children find confidence and openness through riding, creating opportunities for gospel conversations.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” — Matthew 28:19
Rope emphasizes that ministry is about personal connection—one-on-one conversations, serving with patience, and allowing God's love to work through everyday moments. His story highlights how God uses our passions and experiences—like rodeo and horses—to fulfill His kingdom purposes.
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” — Colossians 3:23

A Heart for the Next Generation and Men's Ministry
Looking ahead, Rope shares his desire to help men renew their minds and spirits through coaching and discipleship. Inspired by scripture, he's passionate about guiding men to experience transformation at the level of the spirit, not just the mind. His insights are backed by studies showing how our inner world influences our outward behavior, and he encourages believers to seek a deeper intimacy with Jesus.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” — Romans 12:2“ Be renewed in the spirit of your mind.” — Ephesians 4:23
Final Thoughts:
Trusting God's Plan
Rope Meyers' story is a powerful reminder that God's plans are often bigger and better than we can imagine. From a young boy sitting in a grandstand, to a rodeo champion, and now a ministry leader—his life exemplifies how faith, obedience, and trust open the doors for God's miraculous work.
“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” — Romans 8:38-39
As Rope concludes with a prayer, he invites us all to see Jesus more clearly, to recognize His presence in every moment, and to walk boldly in faith. Whether you're facing uncertainties or celebrating victories, remember that God's hand is guiding you—faithfully and lovingly.
