When I think about brands—especially with kids—they often want to wear certain shoes or clothing from specific brands. They see athletes and celebrities sporting these brands and believe that by wearing the same, they can become like them. It starts with shoes, then moves to shirts, and before you know it, their entire wardrobe—from socks to compression shorts—is branded from head to toe. They follow, like, and adopt these brands as part of their identity. This isn't just true for kids.

As adults, we may do similar things. We might have certain items we have, what we wear, what we surround ourselves with—these things become part of who we are or at least shape the outward perception of who we’re trying to emulate. Sometimes, we pay ten times as much for a certain item because it bears a specific brand. We wear those brands in public, and it gives us a certain feeling—maybe respect, confidence, success, or capability.
I'm not here to diss any brands; I just want to shed some light on how often in our society we place more emphasis on the outward appearance—on brands—than on the Christ within each of us. We sometimes hide who we truly are behind the persona that these brands or possessions create, trying to present a certain image to others. But the truth is, Christ is in us, and who He created us to be is far greater than any persona we try to craft by dressing, acting, or possessing worldly things.
Often, it’s not just brands—it’s skins in gaming, for example—what we want the world to see.
But that may not reflect our true identity in Christ. I want to remind you of Romans 12:2: "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will." (NIV)
What if, today, instead of putting on brands or skins, you put on Christ?
What if His light shines through you more brilliantly than ever before? The truth is, we don’t need to cover ourselves with worldly brands to define who we are.
Instead, we can cover ourselves with our true identity in Christ.
Our worth isn’t determined by external possessions but by our relationship with Him.
Each day, through His Word, we are renewed and strengthened—becoming the best version of ourselves—not because of trends or fashion, but because of who we are in Christ.
God formed us in our mother’s womb and created us for a purpose. He’s not asking us to conform to everyone else. No—He made us each unique, bearing His image in a way that reflects our individuality.
We are part of a greater community, part of divine orchestration. Each of us has unique attributes, skills, and talents. When we bring our best—who we are in Christ—that’s when we truly shine.
Scriptural Affirmations of Our Identity in Christ:
